Lorenzo Garagnani is Consultant Hand & Wrist Surgeon and the surgical Lead of the Hand Unit
at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London. He also practises at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital. Mr Garagnani has a broad hand and wrist surgery practice (both paediatric and adult) and a keen commitment towards medical education. He is the Guy’s and St Thomas’ Lead for Undergraduate Medical Education in Trauma & Orthopaedics, tutor for the Diploma in Hand Surgery of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH), examiner for the European Diploma in Hand Surgery (EBHS/FESSH) and member of the International Traveling Fellows Committee of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH).
Mr Garagnani is Honorary Reader (Associate Professor) at the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine of King's College London (KCL) and Director of the International Bone Research Association (IBRA)'s London Upper Limb Training Centre and Fellowship.
He is the past President of the Pediatric Hand International Society of Surgeons (PHISOS)
and the current President of the Italian Medical Society of Great Britain (IMSoGB).
He is an author of numerous scientific publications that include articles and book chapters
and is regular speaker and faculty at national and international conferences, meetings and courses. Mr Garagnani’s clinical practice and research focuses on techniques that allow for reduction of morbidity in paediatric and adult hand and wrist surgery.
He has been awarded the Knighthood of the Order of the Star of Italy (OSI) for his hand and wrist surgery career and his volunteer work and coordination of a task-force of doctors in the UK during the Covid-19 pandemic.
